Gold Exploration Australia has an area of land being researched that has potential for both hard rock gold and alluvial gold.

Alluvial doesn’t appear to have been worked in modern times.

Over 10 historical mines in area- good historical data. nuggets over 13oz in the alluvial, hard rock shafts averages only 11m depth and averages over 60 grams per tonne.

This newer  sampling has confirmed that there are large areas of much better surface gold than those that were tested by the previous  drilling. Property remains prospective for a large tonnage porphyry gold deposit similar to Cadia in NSW.

Alluvial Gold

Over 7km of gold bearing drainage, most never worked by modern times.

Almost all gold found here was obtained from two creeks. Gold was first discovered here about  1863,  During this period, however, little payable gold was found and on account of the scarcity of water, the area was soon deserted. With the exception of one or two fossickers, it remained so until the following season brought heavy rains. One Gully proved to be the richest, with nuggets (up to 13 ozs.) being obtained. Numerous nuggets from 7 to 9 ozs. were also recorded. The nuggety gold is located at or near the head of the Gully, whereas the lower you go, the finer the gold. This gully, which runs into a  Creek , was worked for about 1.6 km. down from its head. In the Creek there are also some old workings, but records indicate that only a small amount of alluvial gold was won from here. White's Creek, although not as rich, did supply what the 'old timers' referred to as 'specks'. From the information gathered whilst researching, I can only advise that a 'speck' ranges in size from 1 gram to around 0.5 ozs., and all can be detected.

Target 1


Most of these prospects consist of gold-bearing, arsenic-rich shear zones, located near the contacts of various intrusions.

In 2010,completed a small program of ridge and spur sampling at the prospect.  This work has identified some anomalous areas.

The program targeted the Au-Cu-As soil anomaly in the southern part of the grid. 

The best result was from RC91EV4 with 8m @ 3.4ppm Au

In 2005, 7 drill holes within the area. Some of these holes were diamond core re-drills of the original holes – in particular DP0029 was sited in a similar location to RC91EV4 and also recorded high grade gold including 0.4m @ 18g/t Au.

Target 2

The soil sampling has successfully defined a gold and copper anomaly located in the vicinity of the old workings. The area appears to be of a limited size, although the copper anomaly is still open to the north.  No significant arsenic or silver values were recorded.

Unlike other mineral occurrences within the area, this prospect contains both gold and copper, but is lacking in arsenic. The Au-Cu association, as well as the presence of a diorite plug with a prominent magnetic signature, suggests that there is some potential for porphyry style mineralisation.

The prospect consists of malachite, azurite, and chalcopyrite with associated gold and silver.  The prospect is centred around a diorite plug and therefore considered there to be some potential for porphyry style mineralisation. 

Veins returned high gold and silver values (max 33.2ppm Au in EV104 and 49.2ppm  Ag in EV106).

Target 3

The Mountain prospect is located in the central part of EPM, again within the Marumba Beds near the contact of  Granodiorite. Initial reported the area as being covered by thick lantana and so little local geological information was obtained.

Previous Exploration

The Mountain prospect was discovered when stream sediment sampling returned five samples with greater than 1ppb Au (max 6.45ppb Au). Follow up ridge and spur soil sampling located some , elevated gold samples  (22 to 150ppm Au) and had planned further grid based soil sampling that was never completed.
